Your Guide to Living, Working, and Thriving in Canada - 通过数据解读加拿大

Canadian Products, Canadian Pride!

Before you make a purchase, please check that you are buying a Canadian product. Supporting Canadian-made goods helps protect our economy. Choose Canada, avoid US products! 🇨🇦💪

How to ensure that the products you buy are Canadian and not from the US

1. Check the Barcode

  • Canadian products usually have barcodes that start with "06" or "07".
  • US products often have barcodes starting with "00" to "13".
  • However, this method is not 100% reliable since barcodes are registered based on company location, not necessarily where the product is made.

2. Look for "Made in Canada" Labels

  • Look for "Product of Canada" or "Made in Canada" labels.
  • "Product of Canada" means at least 98% of the ingredients are Canadian.
  • "Made in Canada" means the product is processed in Canada, but ingredients may come from other countries.

3. Avoid "Made in USA" Labels

  • If a product is labeled "Made in the USA", it is clearly from the US.
  • Some products may say "Assembled in the USA", meaning parts come from other countries, but final production happens in the US.

4. Grocery Store Tags

  • Some grocery stores label "Canadian" products separately.
  • Farmer’s markets and local stores often have 100% Canadian goods.

5. Ask the Retailer

  • When in doubt, ask customer service if a product is Canadian-made.
